1. At least two years of experience.
2. Certified & trained in CPR and first aid.
3. Background-checked (criminal, health, drug).
4. Two hour personal interview & references verified.
5. At least 18 (most are older; average age is 22-27).
6. Most are grad students or in college (nursing, pre-med, international business, economics, etc.) and include school teachers, lifeguards, EMTs, etc.
7. Many are bilingual (over half a dozen languages represented).
8. Older sitters and sitters for families of children with special needs are available also.
9. Unlike other agencies, no sitters are referred until all screening is successfully completed.
We voluntarily limit the number of children per sitter to 4 (California day care licensing standards for non-infants range from 6-14, e.g.).
Destination Sitters is run by professionals with a combined 50+ years of business experience in a variety of fields (CEOs, entrepreneurs, international trade, government, design & construction, onscreen television personality, sales & marketing, among others) with educations from Harvard University, Stanford MBA, Cambridge University, etc.
We are parents, too! And only refer sitters whom we would use ourselves.
